PDF Files se friendly?

Can search engines view the contents of a PDF file?

I ask this because ive done some seraches in the past where pdf files have come up...

hmm, i'l realy dont know... try to make a blank page, and only a link to a pdf file in it... and wait a few days, then search on google?
