changing SMF default skin colors

Sorry first of all, if this topic is in the wrong place, But i just wondered, If i was wanting to change the basic SMF theme (the default 1.1.1 theme) what file I would need to change to change the template colours.

I hope someone can help me with this

Hi Caz, If all you want to do is change the color of the default theme, all you have to do is change the colors in the 'style.css' file. The 'styel.css' file is in your /public_html/your_ forum_name/Themes/default/style.ccs folder. All it will do is change the color of your site but you still have the same button styles unless you install a new theme.

You can change the background image, the main body background color and the various info bar colors.

But I was just curious, are you sure you want to just change the color of the default theme when you can choose from all these amazing SMF themes for free? http://themes.simplemachines.org/

theres a little script which may help takes about 5-10minutes to go through, may be worth coming up with a colourscheme first in photoshop or paint shop pro then ti will make it much quicker and easier

Only problem with changing the entire theme, is it would cause me problems installing the packages. I like the default theme that comes with 1.1.1 (it looks like the WWWC forum but blue) and would love to just change the colours instead to suit me.

I shall set up a test site and see what I can do thanks for the help

the link above only changes the skin colours to suit your needs it doesnt change the actual code, basically css is changed not the page template
