why do forums...

ok ive posted some of my sites on forums for help or reviews etc, why is it that once ive completed the site left it 2 or more months i type in some of the keywords and then half the time (mainly in google) the forum where i requested help comes up before my site which ive never tried to optimise to be fair but im sure it would contain more of the keywords, this happens mainly in google, occasionaly in yahoo/msn but nowhere near as much, generally my sites seem to be pretty good at optimising for the last 2

probably because there are more incoming links to the forum so they are being ranked higher
