well that depends on how secure you want it....one of my techniques which im going to be implementing into a future site is to use phpbb's login system and make it look as if the forums has nothing to do with it. its really secure then :)

probably the google bot doing it. I heard that it doesnt use cookies and therefore has problem browsing forums. each page it accesses it looks lik a new user.
behind the titles there should be a gradient.
the titles should be the same size as the text. the fact that they are bold makes them stand out enough.

im terrible with graphics...but i would make some sort of calmly coloured background, then put the logo on the left hand side, then devdreams text not far from it...

its your design. up to you how you change/modify it :)
i wouldnt use flash, a lot of people werent happy about the current flash header. stick to a graphic for the header if I was you.
