if you plan to take you blog and use it on a live site I would deffinately recommend using a database to store the data. writing to text files all the time can cause problems
im sorry but its almost deffinately gotta be a 3 column deisgn...otherwise there wont be enough room.
and that design uses tables - which is what i prefer however ill think about it and perhaps I will let ya code it in css :)

just dont go too crazy....the same thing happened with a friends account and his site was banned because google thought he was clicking himself....
on or two clicks a day is fine... just 50+ could cause problems.
