  • If you don't have SSI, PHP, CGI or any other server-side technology you could just put your header between (for example) <!-- START HEADER --> <!-- END HEADER --> then use a text editor's advanced Regualr Expression search+replace to …
  • You can run your own domain reseller, just as you can run your own hosting reseller. It just comes down to money. It's not like WMF or DNForum get free domains, they're just loaded.

  • - SitePoint - PHP Manual I'm really serious about the second one. Most people go "ugggh, a manual!?" but the PHP manual is very well done. After you've read through the SitePoint tutorial and know how the basics work, then you can learn a…
  • Not bad :) And that's your first? That's pretty good for a first  But I'll have to agree on the green part. Imagine the site full of text and content, the green doesn't make for a good background
  • Well if your lookin' for portability and speed (and price ;)) then PHP and mySQL combo is the way to go. If you already know CF, and don't care about anything else then there's no reason to switch to something else.

  • I think it's natural for us to love our own sites, we've spent many hours working on them, after all. But besides that, I'm going to say Slashdot. I just love that place.
  • I've never looked into CF, so I'm not sure of its limits. All you need is a database really. You could use files to store your content but it isn't worth the trouble.

  • So you know CF and want to use an Acces DB, but don't know PHP or mySQL and want to use them? Looks like you've got some reading to do :)

  • I'd love to have dual monitors for the reasons you just said ;) Makes it a lot easier to program things when you can have two files open at the same time, or have graphics in one and programming in the other -- list goes on.
  • 2.6 GHz P4 (oc'd to 3.1GHz) 512 Kingston RAM, (3200, dual chan) 80GB WD hdd, 20GB hdd ATI Radeon 9600 XT Usual DVD-ROM, 52x burner, floppy drive ;) Asus P4P800-DLX mobo Python, you don't need to have two graphic cards to use two monitors ;) Most ca…
  • The best way to learn is through doing ;) Get a project that you'd like to complete (like a guestbook, perhaps) and just start. Before you know it, you're pro :D (The PHP manual helps a lot too ;))
  • Ahh. I meant to choose "Really Good" put chose "Expert" on accident. There are some areas of PHP which I don't follow too closely because I have no need for them right now.
  • Voted
  • I'd go for the shop if there was adverts or T-shirts in there! :D Just most of the predefined stuff it comes with is junk :(
  • I don't like the idea of F$ money/point system. The only way it'd be worth while is to give up something good which costs real money. All this "glow username" and stuff just clutters up I think. Love the QR though :) I'll think of what el…
  • Hiya DMo :D WT has only been open 2.5 years? Wow, it feels like a lot longer then that. (Which is not meant to sound bad :P). Anyway, I'm new here too. We all are :D 21 members for a few days is pretty damn good Python :) Now you gotta try and tur…

  • I'm assuming 1 is the worst and 4 is the best? Depends how you phrase it I s'pose. "How many starts woud you give my site", "what is my site's ranking" :P
  • I'm talkin' about the forum, not the site. I mean, you've done quite a bit and it doesn't look like the phpBB, but the link colors and images etc. need to be switched up I think -- to give DevDreams a unique identity of its own.
  • I think it needs to escape the phpBB look.
  • I don't think addon domains and databases cost anything because my host did that as well -- which gets me wondering, why do they even limit that stuff? Why not just say 99 or something... btw, is your avatar what I think it is? :D
  • I doubt you'll be able to change it. If they let you change it then that costs them, its not like they can get a refund. You can just buy another domain and add it onto your hosting account though, most hosts allow about 5 addon domains. They're onl…
