Recently an unusual thing happened when InMotion Hosting bought RamNode & I'm curious, in your opinion, does the customer have the right to know if their host has been purchased?
The situation:
RamNode, a major player in the unmanaged VPS market, had it's assets sold in February (likely was purchased sooner). All the way into March, it was kept secret. The public found out when intelligent forum members from Lowendtalk.com investigated & leaked this story.
As of April 8th, the company hasn't sent an email to informcustomers. On the 11th of March, InMotion hosting did post a bulletin in the client area, however, the opinion seems to be that few login to that area frequently, if at all.
Is it just me that sees this as wrong? Do the customers have the right to know if the company they've been hosting with has been purchased?

Sounds like @cloudmate did it the right way.
They should know and have it announced. The best way would be in my opinion to get a one-time popup in the client area and receive an email.
If the client aren't aware then the host aren't sincere enough with their customers. It has to be announced and the client must know
